Research offers many moments which are too exciting to be overshadowed by frustrations that shouldn’t exist in the first place. For this reason, we want to provide an inclusive work environment by our shared values.

Research environment

We are convinced that science achieves its best results in a collaborative environment. In our group, all lab members support each other to achieve their full individual as well as collective potentials. Our science is strongly communicative, e.g., in our everyday encounters between coworkers in the lab and formal meetings. We believe that outreach to the public is important to shape the field of polymer science in the future. In our team we value everyone’s right to speak up and be heard and we listen to each other carefully. 

Diversity

We believe that diversity of background and thoughts are key for solving the hardest problems as it strenghtens thinking outside of the box. Our welcoming team celebrates this diversity and the enriching social environment it provides. We particularly welcome members of all gender identities, sexual orientations, disabilities, international and cultural backgrounds, religions, or skin colors to our team that share our democratic values.

Family

A healthy work-life-balance can be difficult to maintain. Meike and the team fully support members who wish to have children in the group and actively promote the compatibility of an academic career with having a family.
